Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House is honored to be designated -- along with Minute Man National Historical Park, Walden Woods, and other landmarks in the Historic Corridor encompassing Bedford, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, and Sudbury, Massachusetts -- among the "11 Most Endangered Historic Places of 2024" by The National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The announcement was made on May 1, 2024 by The National Trust during a special event held at The Old Manse featuring United Nations Goodwill Ambassador/actress/activist/author Ashley Judd, National Trust Deputy General Counsel Betsy Merritt, Mike Barrett and Simon Cataldo from the Massachusetts legislature, historian Douglas Brinkley, and representatives from and supporters of the 11 Most Endangered sites.

The National Trust's designation helps to focus attention on the historical and cultural significance of iconic places in our collective history such as The North Bridge, Orchard House, and Walden Pond, and provides the opportunity for residents as well as visitors to advocate for their preservation and protection through understanding external threats these treasured sites currently face.
